Worship Services

Sacred Time. Sacred Space. Sacred Things.

From the very beginning, God’s people have gathered together to worship Him. Christian worship begins with receiving God’s gifts in faith, which He gives to us freely by His grace.

Having been blessed by God, we respond with praise and thanksgiving. This pattern of receiving and responding is found in all our worship services.

Our Savior Sanctuary

Divine Service

The chief service of our Lutheran church is the Divine Service, in which God’s people gather to hear the Word and receive the Sacrament of the Altar (also known as Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper). Through these means, we receive the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith.

At Our Savior, the Divine Service is celebrated every week: Sundays at 8 and 10:45 am and Mondays at 7 pm. We also celebrate the Divine Service on many festival days throughout the year, such as Christmas. We use Divine Service, Setting Three, as our order of service.

Prayer Offices

In addition to the Divine Service, the Lutheran church has services for the hearing of God’s Word and prayer, known as “offices.” The Office of Matins is a prayer service for morning, and the Office of Vespers is a prayer service for evening.

At Our Savior, Matins is offered every Wednesday at 9 am, except in the seasons of Advent and Lent. During those times, Vespers is offered on Wednesdays at noon and 7 pm.

Worship Services

Each week we gather for worship, where God serves us through His holy Word and Sacrament. That’s why the Lutheran worship service is called the Divine Service. God serves his people through the Means of Grace, and we respond with thanks and praise, service and obedience.

We would love to have you join us. If you are unable to attend in person, you can watch our livestreams on Facebook, listen live to our 8 am service on KFBC Radio (1240 AM), or listen to the most recent sermon by phone by dialing 844-556-1123.

Occasional Services

While the church observes a regular pattern of worship day by day and week by week, there are also occasions in the Christian’s life that are marked with worship services. The occasional services offered at Our Savior are Baptisms, weddings, and funerals. These services are offered to those who are members in good standing of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The rite of Holy Baptism is usually included in at Divine Service. In obedience to Christ’s command and in faith in His promises, we baptize all who would desire it, including infants. Through the washing of water with God’s Word, we receive the forgiveness of our sins, we are rescued from death and the devil, and all who believe are given eternal salvation.

The rite of Holy Matrimony is either included in one of the prayer offices or celebrated as an independent order of service. In this ceremony the lifelong union of one man and one woman is blessed with the Word of God and prayer.

The funeral service is a public confession of the Church’s hope that those who have believed in Christ do not perish but have everlasting life. In this service we gather to give thanks to God for the blessings granted to and through our loved one who has died, and we are comforted by the promises of Jesus’ resurrection.
