Social Gatherings

Love For Each Other

The most important way we as a congregation gather together is around God’s Word and the Sacrament. From this central gathering, there are many other ways that we as God’s people live together in this congregation.

The love of God is foundational to the love we show to one another.

What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.

Social Opportunities

Every Sunday after the first service before Bible study and Sunday School we enjoy a social time together (usually from 9:20-9:45 am). In addition to coffee, juice, snacks, and treats provided by our members, we also enjoy good conversations, meeting new friends, sharing joys and sorrows, encouraging and being encouraged.  Sometimes we have special acknowledgements or celebrations during this time as well.

Our Savior also has groups designed for service and social time together. There are two ladies groups that do a number of things in the congregation: the LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) and Lydia Circle. In the past we have also gathered a Men’s Group at Our Savior where we discuss our tasks as men, play games together, take on special projects, and otherwise enjoy conversation.

We are blessed with a number of young people in the congregation. Our youth group (6 th -12 th grades) not only participates in weekly Bible studies but also regular social events, including our monthly Youth & Parents Night. Throughout the year there are several camps and retreats that our youth are invited to attend.

The congregation is greatly served by our Altar Guild. This group takes care of the sanctuary, the sacred vessels used for our worship, the 9 banners which beautify the sanctuary, the candles which remind us of Christ who is the Light of the World, and other elements for use in our worship.

Finally, our members take great joy in caring for one another. We have a “Member Care Group” that regularly helps those who need some extra care and assistance at times (shut-ins, older members, members needing rides, meals, grocery help, etc.). In addition, many of our members make regular visits to area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. They can be found visiting the sick in the hospital and in their homes. They often deliver meals to members in need.
